A non-question challenge to Christianity and related to some of the mis-information we have already looked at is what is called HISTORICAL REVISIONISM . Historical Revisionism is the revising of the historical record about the past so that people will believe a certain way or believe certain information in the present and in the future. This can be done either by changing the details and facts of the historical record, or by leaving out critical details.

This revisionism can influence a person to accept or reject ideas and/or practices they would feel the opposite about before their exposure to the revisionist information.

One example of a claim an increasing number of people make because of Historical Revisionism is that the United States was not founded on the principles of the Bible and Judeo-Christian principals. If this is what many uninformed people have been convinced is true, then their perspective will be that Christians have no right to object when we see growing percentages of the country embracing non-Christian values.

There is much mis-information about the significant influence of Christianity on the foundation of the United States, about its founders, and significant events in history. Some say that the United States wasn't founded upon Christian values and that the Founding Fathers were mostly Deists, Agnostics, and Atheists.

Like other misinformation, many people will repeat mis-information because they don’t know it is mis-information and because it sounded valid when they first hear it. And if they never hear any facts to correct the error, their conclusion that the point is valid is confirmed.

As in other challenges, people repeat this mis-information simply because they aren't aware of the facts due to not having researched the accuracy of the information. I believe that the people who have created the mis-information have knowingly done so to change what people believe happened in the past, and thus what people now believe in the present. If a population can be persuaded to believe certain things as true, they can be persuaded to act in certain ways.

One only has to look to Nazi Germany and the leadership’s persuasion of the German people to see a horrific end result happen through mis-information spread by these Nazi leaders. The German population at that time had been convinced that Jewish people were inferior and needed to be eliminated. This link showing the percentage of Jewish recipients of the Nobel Prize certainly corrects this mis-information of Jewish people being inferior:

Individuals using the challenges indicated in this section knowingly or unknowingly attempt to marginalize the validity of Christianity because of their beliefs against the absolutes taught in Christianity. It is important to realize that with these challenging statements, most of them don’t do anything to disprove the truth of the claims of Christianity. People will use them primarily to silence unprepared Christians, and unfortunately, they have been effective at doing this. This is confirmed by the number of Christians unprepared to answer these challenges, (remember the statistics in the first Warning?). When Christians are unprepared to answer the challenges, those raising the challenges avoid having to deal with the truths of Christianity and the answers to those challenges.

Hopefully you see how these challenges can be responded to effectively using examples in this guide. These answers apply to the challenges whether or not the persons using these challenges knowingly use them as diversions or that they have only heard others use the challenges and not investigated the truth of the challenge for themselves.
